I remember sitting on a stool by the stove in my grandmother's kitchen while she was making this pickles. I remember the pots being enormous, and the sweet, sharp smell of vinegar and curry. And I remember these crunchy pickled vegetables with rye bread open sandwiches from my entire life. It always went by the name »Farmor's Pickles«; Grandmother's Pickles!
Mixed with mayo, it makes the best
remoulade (tartar sauce).

I've missed this homemade pickles ever since my own grandmother died. I never found her recipe. It looks exactly like hers - and now I'll try to make it myself.
